Baptism

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”

Galatians 3:26-27

Through Baptism the Church welcomes God's children into the Catholic Community, accompanying and guiding them along the Way of Jesus Christ.

Children

The Baptism of infants, with parents and godparents acting on their behalf, has been a well-established ancient tradition in the Catholic Church.

For purposes of Baptism the Catholic Church defines Infants as children 6 years of age and younger, who receive the same graces from the sacrament as adults who receive Baptism. Unlike an adult, nothing is required from the infant in order to receive the Sacrament. Instead, it is the Parents and godparents who are the ones who undertake to fulfill the requirements.

Children 7 years and older prepare for the sacrament of Baptism by attending Faith Formation classes.

In order for parents to Baptize their child at Corpus Christi Catholic Church:

Children under 6 years old.

Parents and God parents must attend the baptismal preparation class and Bring the required documents.

  1. Mom and Dad must come in person to the parish office to request the baptism application for their child. Or you can send an email requesting the form, if you do not live in Miami-Dade County to: corpuschristi@corpuschristimiami.org
  2. Bring a copy of your child's original birth certificate to register. And copy of the identifications of the parents.
  3. Copy of the Sacrament of Confirmation of ONE of the Godparents or copy of the church marriage, if Confirmation cannot be obtained.
  4. Bring the full name of the godparents (limit 2). These must be baptized Catholics and over 16 years of age.
  5. Then, they will be given the date for the pre-baptismal class with the ZOOM information.

  6. After taking the classes, they will be ready for the baptism. Until then they will know the date and time of the baptism. Therefore, it is recommended that you complete all requirements one month before the month in which you want to baptize.
  7. The Donation will be delivered on the day of the Baptism.

The Church requires that parents and sponsors attend a Baptismal Preparation class, so that they can come to know their faith better.

If Parents/godparents do not attend the baptismal preparation class at Corpus Christi, you must bring the certificate from another catholic church.
